thanks for all the replies. 85% of my driving is on road. I want to keep (actually never had) a good ride. The goodyears gotta go. I dont want to worry about any rubbing or any worse mileage. I had BFG's on everything Ive ever owned but dont want to put them on my LR. The Zeon's look great but dont look like that smooth of a ride. Although, never got to ride on them. Im also looking at the Bridgestone AT REVO's. They have a nice pattern and my customers always told me that they liked them. Plus they have the stock size. As long as their is no rubbing or noticable mileage difference Im up for whatever.

edit:
bad info. the revo's are not available in the correct size.
The coopers are also over a half inch on either side larger, 30mm at least by spec. This is not enough from what I read to rub?

The coopers are 1.5 inches taller but I have not had them rub at all. And they are definately a smoother and quieter ride the the stock goodyears.

I had the Revo's on my old GX, and can confirm that they are a great tire; but they did not have a size available for the LR3 last time I checked.

My current Yoko's are a better tire on/off road, even better on road dry/wet grip and noise/ride than the OE Goodyears and much better than the Revo's. My wife gave me grief about the noise/ride of the Revo's, but commented that the Yoko's improved the ride/noise. The Yoko's are wearing faster than the Revo's, however; but this could be linked to the LR3 weighing 1/2 ton more than the GX and their higher speed rating (softer).(?)

do any of the zeon owners have OE mud flaps? they actually offer a 45 day money back, but only if you run the correct tire size for your vehicle...

Yes, I have the OEM mudflaps, front and rear. Why?

i asked because flaps provide less tire clearance for rubbing. i have flaps on and just wanted to see if the clearance was still ok with them on.

Cooper actually offers a 45 day money back guarantee on their tires. If your not happy for any reason you can return them. Im not worried about if im happy or not but if they fit properly. But you can only get your money back if they are the correct size or "OE" tire size for the vehicle.

I have some rims that I may or may not use. The rims are 9" wide and are a little wider than stock. Thats why I am so concerned about rubbing.

I experience rubbing with the Coopers but not because of the mud flaps. The tires rub on the plastic fender pieces, JUST BARELY, in the front when I am at off-road height and at a full steering wheel turn. It is most likely because of the offset on my aftermarket 18" rims.

To be honest, I'm not really that concerned about it...we'll see what happens offroad when my suspension gets compressed and all that.

I would be concerned about using aftermarket rims unless they have the same physical dimensions as the OE ones. I think you will definately run into rubbing with the Coopers on any rims that are not the same dimensions as the OE ones.

yeah, thats kinda what im thinking. i think im gonna go with the silent armor's. i took a look at them this week and they look pretty good. they are only 10mm wider and should clear after some measuring. never had a set, but naturally cautious of Good-4-1-Year's after the factory set. just a horrible match on LR's part Im guessing. gonna spray the stock 18's and put some tires on them as a winter/camping set, they will probably end up getting the coopers.

Why not just run the 18's with the Coopers year round? I think I may have finally got my wife convinced to do just that. We have OEM 19" rims with Michelin Synchrones and to be honest the difference in road noise between those and the Coopers is very minimal. The ride on the Coopers is smoother when it comes to bumps with the extra sidewall to soak them up.

I may soon have a set of 19's with lightly used Synchrones for sale. :)
