Sorry, yet another slider/compressor thread ... :ahhhhh:

About to finally pull the trigger on the RS Sliders - I'm torn between the Option 2 Slim & Option 2 std. I know the slim slider may be cosmetically neater but I'm in mud/stump territory and there seems to be some benefit with the wider slider for forest use. What's the consensus on that?

Also, how noisy is the compressor with the RS Sliders? I'm thinking of getting the HighCountry raised air pump bracket as well while I'm making the mods but I was wondering if this makes any difference to the compressor noise? I assume not because the top cover is removed vs bottom cover when mounting with RS Slider - is that correct?

Welcome any info people can share. Thanks in advance.

I just received my option 3 this week. I liked the ideal of the slim model but but it cant offer the protection of the full version and the full is probably a better entry step.

Graham I know you're a WA person...are you Eastern WA or Western WA? I'd love to check out those RS Sliders in-person. I'm in Seattle.

I have the RS sliders and the HC bracket. In my case after both were installed
the compressor was too high for the top cover to fit and there was not enough room
between the slider and compressor for the lower cover. So I just left them both
off. Noise level is not like stock, but very tolerable.

I'm in Southern WA in Vancouver. Happy to show you and post some pics when they're done. I probably should live in eastern WA since that's where I spend a lot of my LR3 play time.

Thanks - exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

With the RS sliders there is no real reason to upgrade the compressor mount unless you just want to. The RS sliders completely cover the compressor and protect it from impact.

As for noise it is a moving target. My compressor on my 06 is louder then my friends 06, both with the RS sliders on. His is louder then another friends that has the RS sliders on an 08.

Graham I am in Portland quite often...maybe someday we can go wheelin' out towards Bend, TSF or the Barlow Road.

Absolutely. Excuse my ignorance but what's the TSF? I assume Forest but which one?

It is not necessary and has no benefit w/ our sliders. If as the other poster said the HiCountry bracket requires the removal of the top cover then it will likely make the compressor louder than w/ just the bottom cover removed for our installation.
