If you can figure out a way to get the ZF8 speed into v8 LR4s you’ll hit the holy grail. The fuel efficiency and acceleration boost for the NA V8 would be so significant. Personally not a fan of the slush box zf6hp26 I have in my 2010, already tore through one and don’t need to tear through another.

I predict this project will never hit the road but I hope to be proven wrong. Enough talk, turn some wrenches. ;)

I’m turning as fast as I can! Although admittedly, it’s turning wires. This is the inside of my 2010. At least I’ve got the antennas swapped and the headliner recovered and installed. I just finished tracing all the different dash pinouts, and now I’m splicing the new radio/amp harness in. Hopefully by Friday or early next week I’ll be testing the “new Bosch” infotainment in my 2010. Once I do that, the. Swap some brake hoses out, it’ll be time for the SC swap. Cause again…I’m under the gun time wise and can’t ship a non-running vehicle…so success must be achieved at ALL costs! (Kinda like this infotainment swap). I’m too far into it…if it doesn’t work, my wife is gonna **** me for screwing her car up!! Not to mention a radio is kinda nice.

Although, this brings me back to my original question, has anyone already done this????

I’m blazing enough trails…or at least I hope I’m blazing trails…time will tell. I was really hoping someone else had already “blazed” this trail so I didn’t have to.

I have not seen anyone who's done any sort of engine or transmission swap that was not just a rebuilt 5.0.

A few years ago, there was a post on here about someone who had LS swapped a RRS, but his was more of a street-oriented car.

I think you'd be the trailblazer.

Just so we’re all clear, I think I’m gonna avoid trailblazing the engine AND the transmission. (Unless someone chimes in who has cracked the transmission swap….or the engine for that matter).

I’n planning on the engine only swap with a trans rebuild. The 8speed swap was just a thought I was toying with. However, right now, keeping the unknowns to a minimum seems like the best practice.

Get a baseline dyno run so you can compare them after the swap. I looked for a shop in Vegas to do a 4wheel dyno and found one that did my control arms, but didn't go back since I ran out of time. But it would be interesting to see how much power it puts down to the ground and what the power curve looks like in 4th gear. It would be interesting to compare the 8 speed gear ratios, but these are the 6 speed ratios:

First Gear Ratio 4.17
Second Gear Ratio 2.34
Third Gear Ratio 1.52
Fourth Gear Ratio 1.14
Fifth Gear Ratio 0.87
Sixth Gear Ratio 0.69
