The guys in the fb group are definitively saying with hood open is a different scale than with hood closed fwiw
Ordinarily “the guys in the fb group” and “credibility” aren’t closely aligned in my mind. Maybe they’re right, but I can’t think of any good reason why there would be two different scales?

However, I could see how the time difference between measurements might cause later measurements to be higher, due to fully draining the galleys.

interesting…

So is it best to take measurement only when the car is completely cold/before driving?

The most accurate reading in cars with dipsticks* is at least 5 minutes after the engine is stopped. I would think this would also be the case here.

*wish I had one in this thing...

Ok so this has been happening so i just had the tube going to the oil sensor replaced and the problem still occurs.

If i measure the oil with the hood open i get a different result than with hood closed. With hood open it tells me to add .5 quart. With hood closed it says its perfect.

Thoughts?
How long was the interval between the photo ending in 14 and the one ending in 16? If you use the "hood open/cancel twice" trick soon after stopping the engine, you can actually watch the oil level indicator rise.
