Not sure where you arrive at the engine configurations from
2014MY - Global
TDV6 - Low Power Diesel
SDV6 - High Power Diesel
SCV6 - Supercharged V6 - (Gasoline)
NAV8 - Discontinued (for now .....) - (Gasoline)
Not sure if if it applies to the reverse camera - but I had a "filter" installed in the camera feed for my cameras which were giving the red X - no problems since (on a MY2010)
They quote it as been optional (for now) - but I can see them switching in some markets and offering the two speed t/case as an extra cost option :frown: not sure what the "Mechanicaly Controled" feature is on a single speed T/Case ? (probably the torsen diff ?)
My front brakes (only) on my LR4, where recently replaced at 31K miles (rears where replaced earlier at 15K due to a persistent squeal).
12K seems a bit short, although it would depend on driving environment and if they are riding the brakes (I have noticed that my 2010MY allows the brake &...
Yes - From the manual Discovery 4
High speed height
If the vehicle exceeds 160 km/h (100 mph) for
longer than five seconds, the suspension ride
height lowers by 20 mm (0.75 in). This action
is automatic and cannot be over-ridden
manually. Ride height will return to normal
when...
You can only fool the ECU in open loop with this. Once in closed loop it will trim the fuel back to what it is supposed to be, if it cant it will throw a CEL.
Does not look like you will get one on the V8 gasoline engine. Limited to the Diesel (ROW).
Count the 7 Speed - Merceds perhaps ? cant remember ZF with a 7 speed. The 8HP on the FFRR (4.4L V8 Diesel) is an 8 speed (8HP) and seems to get good reviews.
Unfortunately it tells us very little about the Diesel LR4 availability in the US. It does howver tell us that it appears that the 8 Speed auto will only be available on certain Diesel variants and that the transmission appears unchanged on the "Gasoline" V8 (judging the fuel consumption...
On topix they have the 2012 owners manual now available (Discovery 4) - The 8 speed transmission appears only to be available on the Diesel variants. Fuel consumption figures for the V8 remain the same as 2011 models (Fuel and refueling section). Pop up gear selector appears only with the 8...
The 2012 Discovery 4 "Driver Controls" pdf on topix shows both the pop up gear selector in addition to the traditionl selector. It also gives a main menu picture for the sat nav.
The 8HP should deliver a 6% + improvement in economy over the current 6HP gen II transmission. LR currently use the 8HP on the Range Rover Diesel 4.4 V8 (ROW), so I am sure it should have a reasonable shift strategy (no one has complained in road tests).
One issue that needs to be taken into account due to the DI system is the increased risk of oil dilution (by fuel) when the vehicle is predominatley used for short trips (exacerbated by cold weather). Although the AJV8 Gen III engine uses spray guided injection there is still a risk of dilution.
I had a vibration (resonance), between 2500 - 3200 RPM when pulling moderatley which appeared to be coming from the centre of the dash. I later discovered that it was the panel above the pedals in the footwell that was vibrating. The vibration only appeared to eminate from the top of the dash.
Lets try clear up the confusion :rolleyes:
LR3 = Discovery 3 - ROW
Snorkel (Safari & OEM) - Fits both gasoline and diesel
LR4 = Discovery 4 - ROW
Snorkel - Safari fits Diesel models only (ROW) - offset to template
Does not fit Gasoline LR4 (Discovery 4) due to dual intakes -...
The LR4 5.0 Gasoline engine has dual Intakes,filter assemblies and electronics (left and right) - both are active so you need two snorkels or lots of plumbing you can confirm this by looking under the hood. The Diesels have a "dummy" intake on the left, hence the reference to the Diesels...
Unfortunately not currently - the accesory brouchure states that the current LR snorkel is not "fully" compatible with LR4 (D4) Diesel and not at all compatible with the 5.0 gasoline LR4. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution soon.
