So the compressor is indeed AMK. I went ahead and flashed it.

I shared with the mechanic I did that. He said

"Wow an aftermarket tool let you flash it to amk vs our 10k Land Rover set up love it"

I am going to go test it now that it has the appropriate firmware.

From what I gather, whatever the diag tool the shop is using, is Land Rover focused but removed the AMK firmware. He said it happened back in December? I am curious now about that.

@Rover Range , was there such a TSB, and does it apply if you're on the other original oem pump?
There are a couple TSBs related to the compressors.

If the original compressor was a an AMK, no reflash is required.
Replacing the Hitachi with the AMK requires the reflash.

The Hitachi compressors are no longer available. So you have to get the AMK replacement kit. Comes with all the hoses and fasteners required.

a couple of years ago, i needed a hitachi compressor. Found one from a low mileage full size Range Rover. The plugs are different so you have to swap yours onto it but the RR placed the compressors inside the luggage compartment of the vehicle away from moisture and road salt. Usually in much better condition if you dont mind a used one.

Best to always replace the air compressor with the same brand as the old unit. Hitachi w/Hitachi, AMK w/AMk and so forth. You are getting a LOT of faults--if your battery & alternator are good, than my guess is your mechanic left something disconnected.
