We drive a 2000 DII. Yesterday my wife got in to drive it and the A/C is not working. When you turn the ignition to start you can hear the fan under the hood start but when she starts it no blown A/C. The control unit on the dash is still lit up and is usually set on LO and fastest fan speed, We live in Phoenix Arizona!!!!!, and it seems the control panel is still functional. If you turn the control panel off the fan in engine comp will stop. If the control panel is off I can feel a smal trickle of cold air coming from the vents. Also if you adjust the fan speed you can hear clicking from under the dash, passenger side where the blower motor is.
This morning I checked all the related fuses to A/C and blowers and they all seem fine.
Have been doing some reading on the forums here and was wondering if it could be the fan switch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers....

Update...Just drove vehicle. With control panel on LO and fan at highest speed the faster I go the air will blow cold but not at speed it used to. At idle it is barely noticeable. Hope this helps....

If I am reading this correctly, the FAN is not blowing... so the A/C is working correct? You get cold air, just not fan?

If this is the case, then it may be the switch that is the issue.

Joey. Thanks for a speedy reply. I just got back from driving it and the air is cold, when driving it at around at 45mph it puts out cold air but at a reduced velocity.....Cheers

Joey. Wanted to do a follow-up. Thanks for the reply about the switch. I just bought a complete A/C climate control unit on ebay for $25 new!!!! How does the climate control unit come out of the dash. I have been looking at units and it seems they have a metal spring clip on each side. Is it a matter of sliding something in there to release them?

Thanks for all your help...Mark

Hello again everyone. Well my problem is continuing. Today I got a new A/C climate control unit thinking it was the switch in the unit. Put the new one in and still NO GO. It turns on and everything seems normal. But, I am still not getting any blown air. The fan button will indicate that I am going up in strength but the blower does not respond, I can hear clicking from under the dash on passenger side. When I drive down the road I can feel cold air coming from the vents. The faster I drive the more air comes out but at a greatly reduced rate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thougnt the new A/C climate control unit would solve my problems but it did not...HEEELLLPPP!!!

Thanks for your time....Mark

Check the fans to make sure they work... apply 12volts to the fan

Joey. Thanks for the reply. Took the blower fan out from underneath the passenger side dash last night and hooked it up to battery. It works fine, spins like a top. So I am here scratching my head. Fuses are good A/C climate control is good, compressor is good and fan is good. What am I missing here?....Thanks in advance...Mark

Sounds like a bad relay then if the fan works and the switch is good. Or a bad ground.

Joey. Thanks again for a great reply. Looked at and pulled all of the related relays under the hood, passenger side black box. They all look fine. Even took an identical relay that I know is good but still no go. Also checked all the related fuses and relays under steering wheel nothing there either. Am I missing a realy somewhere? As far as a bad ground, where would I start looking for that. Believe me your help is really appreciated....Thanks..Mark.

Well broke down and took the Discovery to the local dealer. They found out that it was the Internal board in the fuse box that is on the left side of the steering column under the dash. It simply unplugs, plug into replacement box and you are good to go. Hope this helps someone else that was scratching their head like me.
Thanks for all your help Joey, steered me in the right direction. Cheers...Mark
