I have heard for years that LRs are very expensive to keep running, but never knew why.
After reading posts on a few LR forums, I think I know.

Whenever you guys speak of repairs made, you don't talk about the price of the part and the time it took you to change it, you talk about what the dealer charged you for the whole job. :stupid:

Once a vehicle is out of warranty, either learn how to repair it yourself, or get something with warranty. It's no wonder people get frustrated when paying $60-100/hr. to the dealer's shop every time a simple part goes.

Suck it up guys. Go to sears, drop a few hundered bucks on a decent tool set to get you started, and start turning wrenches. I'm sure the repair bills will drop signifigantly.

Hmmm, I don't think I have ever mentioned owning or repairing a Land Rover would be expensive.

But since most people do not work on their own vehicles and may get them selves into more issues if they started to work on their own vehicles.... I can see why they would take to a dealer or mechanic.

Personally when I don't have time I take mine to a local mechanic, but I only get charged $35 a hour, so I don't mind.

As a new Disco owner (yes I read where your Dad has bought one) you may find out that each rover has it own personality and some may require more Love and Attention then others... like I usually say... a Land Rover is a family member you will either Love them or Hate them. Either way you will miss them when they are gone.
