Has anyone correlated the plastic failures with coolant change interval? This almost looks like the pH of the coolant could be causing issues with the plastic, due to time, not miles.
I just changed my front and rear crossover pipes a few months ago. My '10 RR HSE V8 has 55k miles. From my research, the crossover pipes can fail without notice based on age and/or mileage. The plastic welding just doesn't hold up. Like many others, I see it as a maintenance item every 50-60k miles. Parts were about $200. Indy shop quoted $1,000.I have a 2012 with 100k miles...no idea on the crossover pipes, would they have gone before that...?
I’m probably gonna get criticized for this but I just turned 100K on my 16 LR4 w/HD and I have not yet replaced my from crossover/manifold yet. I had the rear coolant manifold replaced last year due to a leak. I’ve been contemplating the front replacement for several months but my Local dealer service is not great and my indie is ok but takes forever and would rather work on German cars...and I’m not a very good auto DIY guy. My question is: does anyone else have a high mileage LR4 where the crossover has not been replaced?
So I am hearing different things - is this a leak issue or an all out catastrophe ?
