Battery= Performance?

My 00' dico II seemed to be running a bit rough, plugs are good,wires,air filter,fuel filter ect... I could not place it. I decided to take a peek at the battery and noticed a decent amount of corrosion and dirt, after cleaning it I also noticed it was 4 years old and it seemed to be to small for the vehical. I took it to the shop and had it replaced with the correct size battery.Since it seems I have smother acceleration and it dosen't seem as rough and stop lights, now is this in my head or is it possible that a new battery could influence performance in any way?

A new battery will help with a lot of electrical issues, and this may help it run better.

Just curious how you state you have a good fuel filter....
