So I found a 95 RRC, and I am noticing that the tachometer is a little bouncy and erratic at times. I cleaned the MAF, and that seemed to help the problem significantly. However, when the air conditioning is on, I still notice a little erratic behavior.

Next I cleaned the idle control valve. I was very dirty. Once I got it cleaned off, I put it back in and it still has a bouncy idle when the AC is on. Also, it looked like the washer around the valve control is cracked (only in one place) so I was looking at picking up a replacement aftermarket valve control.

Any other reasons why the tach would be bouncy sometimes?

Tach is the alternator or the wire going to it.

How can I check either? I have cleaned the MAF and replaced the idle control valve. It is still bouncy. Where can I check if it is the alternator or the wire going to the alternator?
