Hi,
I am new to here.
I have a disoc I 97 mpi.
Can anyone tell me,
what temperature will activate cooling fan start and stop?
There are two fans in front of engine room.
Do they activate at same condition?
two monthes ago, i hear something like relay quickly switching.
After that, the cooling fan seem not work well,
and cooling water go overheat.
But if car speed go fast, for example 60kmh,
the relay sound will disappear.
technique man say rely and thermostat is ok.
what's problem? bettery? wire? ECU?
right now technique man shorten relay control line to let fan always on.

thanks
bryan

I've heard of problems with the cooling fans in older Discos. I heard of one person wiring up a replacement fan from a local car parts store. Seems to work well and a lot cheaper than replacing it through LR.

Don't really have any other info than that since I've never done it myself. I'm sure someone else around here will have more info for you.

essentially, i guess, the fan ,temp sensor, relay switch are ok.
the only i can think is control signal.
it could be ECU or wire or battery....
why i do that guess! because if i shorten relay control line, then fan is work well.
And the problem almost happen at idle speed, at same time i will hear relay quickly switching. it seem already try to switching relay to let fan on, but fail. so.....

Cheep Fan Motors

On D1 the fans work with A/C for sure, both. If not working with A/C on Test for power at the motors. if you have power but fans are not working you need to replace motors in fans. I just had to do this. There was no way I was going to pay full price for fans. I went in surch and found that the fan motor from a 1993 Toyota Carolla is the same. All you do is remove fans take fan blade off and remove motor from houseing. Toyota motor will bolt in as stock it is the same motor (pancake style made by Denso) you do need to swap the Totota plug for LR one off your old fan. Wire colors are the same. I went to a junk yard and got 2 motors and fixed mine for under $80.

On all 3 of my rercent Landys I have replaced the normal fans with Kenlow's.
I have had no problems with any of them.

Where are the temp sensor and the relay switch located. And if more than one in same location, which one is it. Is there a direct way to test the fans to see if they are bad. My dis 1 has 207773 miles on it and I need to get them running before Florida heat hits. Please email me direct if possible. Thanks
