my 97 disco with 108k is overheating.

the cooling system is full and an air lift was used to get all the air out
the head gaskets have been replaced
the thermostat has been replaced
the fan clutch is working
the water pump is good
all fans are operating as they should
the truck has heat so i assume the heater core is ok. (blower fan doesnt work though...any correlation?)

*the truck does idle higher than it should 2-2500 rpm. timing issue?

i removed the rad hoses and put a bunch of hot water through the rad, it was slow flowing at first but started to run through better toward the end. because hot water runs through the radiator adequately is it fair to assume the radiator is ok, or is that a bad assumption? i have a spare radiator in the barn is that a good place to start?

i did some searching and also read something about checking the area between the a/c condenser and radiator...can anyone help me out with that?

lastly...i realize that there could be combustion gases in the cooling system. ive read about the design of the block and the cylinder sleeves. im seriously hoping thats not the case.

is there a definitive way to rule out interaction between exhaust and coolant?

thanks for the help
chad
