Hello all,
My son called me last night from northern California, we are on the east coast. He said he was parked and heard a chime from the LR4. It gave him the message that battery was low and start the vehicle. He did that and said it was a bit hard to start but did. He further said that it was "surging" at idle but drove ok at speed. Also air bag light illuminated and warning message of air bag fault in message center. He drove it to autozone where they tested KOEO voltage at 10 volts. battery seems to be toast but they were closing in 10 minutes. told him to buy the new battery and go back to where he was staying so he can install in the morning. In any case just curious if anyone else experienced the air bag fault with a dead or dying battery?

Low battery, especially that low, will cause any number of electrical gremlin issues.

Just replace the battery, charge it up and run the engine, let it go for a couple days, and see if you continue to have problems.

Chances are, all your error messages will go away as the computer resets itself.

If you have a code reader, Then you can also start pulling codes as well as clearing them. But usually bad batteries create low voltage conditions for almost all the ECU's which then start kicking codes (with no real pattern that I can tell so it seems rather random).

Thanks, agreed. He will replace battery this morning and i am hopeful that will solve it. I have a GAP IId but it is here on the east coast. He has a generic code reader with him so if light remains, i will ask him to read code and try reset. THanks
