I've noticed in the rear door jambs of my Disco 1 that where the seam sealer is, the paint is bubling and lifting, or has come right off, but there is no rust on the metal. I've also had this on the bottom of the driver's door and by one of the alpine lights...is this a common thing? A buddy of mine has a disco 1 as well and has problems in more or less the same spots.

thanx

I have eard of it around the Alpine windows and the top being metal will rust. Get that fixed quick or it will reall cost you big time down the road.
The door jam is not metal, the doors are though, that is why your not seeing any rust there.

Mike, methinks roof is aluminium too. At least it looked desidedly "aluminish" when i was scaping old paint out. But then i was tired.

Pete - just sand it out and spray / touch with paint. Original paint shouldnt go bubbly, it just will be leaving marks on your hands if clear coat go off. Altough i guess when it goes to last stage of crapping out - it will start go bubbly and stuff.

actually it isnt so much bubbly as a spot about 1/2 inch by 1/4 inch lifted off the aluminum and you can push down on the paint and it kind of jumps back up...

The roof is steel. I run a 5' CB antenna on my roof, because of the great sidnal plain. However my antenna gets wipped around alot and hits the roof causing the paint to chaip and I now have a couple of rust spots to correct.

The roof is steel. Rust around the Alpine windows is very common on the Dicovery I's. What you are seeing in the seam in the door jamb is corrosion in the aluminum. It needs to be repaired or else it will get worse just like the Alpines.
