Headlight Tint?

Does anyone know if the smoked tint that covers your headlight is legal in CA? Considering getting film to protect my lens, and like the look of the smoked film. sorry, i'm probably a little lazy because I guess I could try to search the DMV site or wherever, but i thought if someone knew it may save me some hassle.

I have the smoked ones on the signal side..in Texas no problem!

I wouldn't use a colored tint just have a clear cover installed.
