Quick question. How do I even get to extended mode? So, it's like:
low - normal - off road - extended mode - super extended mode?

Quick question. How do I even get to extended mode? So, it's like:

Yes the rear locks up all the time in the display, I just snapped that picture when I guess it wasn't.
I've researched tires a lot since I've read so many complaints about them. I don't have anything on an LR3 to compare the GY's too, but so far I must say I like them more than expected. I had read how awful they were even before my purchase so I was expecting much worse.
I love the look of the MT/Rs but they may be too aggressive for me. I will drive about 15,000 miles a year, and maybe 500 of those miles will be off road. I don't want to sacrifice road/rain capability, and can't justify having two sets of tires.
The truck has 13,000 miles on it just about, so from what I've read there are only another 10k miles (if I'm lucky) left in the Goodyears. If I were going to buy tires tomorrow, it would be the Pirelli's. I had those on my F150 and they look great, ride very nice and quiet, and do well enough off road. All though I've yet to see an LR3 owner give feedback as to how they do for him off-road. I certainly never did anything as challenging as this trail in my F150, it was too long.

yes that is the sequence of heights available. Extended mode cannot be turned on in the cockpit, you have to bottom out or lose traction to turn it on. I never bottomed out this weekend and it still turned on for me at times, which makes me thing heavy wheel articulation must also trigger it. I wonder if it's more sensitive in rock crawl mode?

That is the correct sequence, but you cannot activate extended mode. It activates on its own if you get high centered. Then you can activate super extended as I described.
If you want to see it you can put your vehicle in offroad mode put a jack stand under the frame and then lower to normal. The car will then go into extended mode.
I did carry a jackstand with me on one trip so I could activate it before going through some big rocks.

I fyou want to access it on command do the height sensor mod so you can flip to it when you want

Hello Sean, welcome to LR3 ownership! It's great to see you using yours as intended.
Super Extended mode looks like this:
Once the truck goes into Extended mode, you put your foot on the brake, and press up on the suspension lever for a few seconds and then bingo, SUPER EXTENDED Mode. It's pretty cool.
I love the Cleghorn trail, and run it frequently. In fact, I am hosting the SCLR new member orientation run next month on that trail. Please come out and join us!
Also, for a really terrific trail that will greatly expand your appreciate of the LR3 (but not your tires), come out for the Nightmare Gulch run too!

I have many friends in the San Diego club, and much respect for their organization. There is no exclusivity between the two, several people are members of both. It actually my hope for 2009 that we formalize some sort of reprosity agreement. In fact, I am going on LRCSD's run to Calico later this month
Irregardless, you are more than welcome to attend. Just go to our Calendar, and RSVP via the "prospective member" link.
I think you would LOVE Nightmare Gulch also.

Busy indeed, though OffRoving will be taking a bit of hiatus in the next few months due to an pending addition to the family!
I'd wait a bit on joining SCLR. I forget the dates (check the FAQ's), but at some point in the Fall, your 2008 membership dues will be applied to 2009. You don't need to be a member to do your first run with us, as long as you sign the waiver that is part of the Prospective Member RSVP process. Please do introduce yourself if we meet on the trail!
