Forget the max on sidewall, start with the Rover tire pressure spec placard on the car (or as listed in the manual) and adjust from there.
IMHO, tire shops mess up both the pressure and the lug torque (usually way overtightened which causes brake rotor warpage and makes it a bit*h to change a flat).
