LR3 tire pressure

Forget the max on sidewall, start with the Rover tire pressure spec placard on the car (or as listed in the manual) and adjust from there.
IMHO, tire shops mess up both the pressure and the lug torque (usually way overtightened which causes brake rotor warpage and makes it a bit*h to change a flat).

Just out of curiosity, what is the tolerance on the 50psi sidewall rating? That a cold tire pressure number, correct?

Obviously, if you inflate it to 48, it'll go above 50 on a summer highway road trip. (road friction and air temp) I'm assuming that is taken into account, but figured I'd mention it.

When I had the Zeon LTZ's put on two weeks ago, they did 32 all around. Definitely too mushy. Right now I have them at 32/42, and I think I'll go up to 38/46 or so. I think the max listed on the sidewall was 48 or 50, can't remember which.

I run 40F/42R street, 24 to 28 trail, 15 to 20 sand

Completely dependant tire size, vehicle loading, terrian, temperature, speed, and lateral force being applied.

In sand, it's common to get some sand into the bead, and it eventually causes leaks or a blown bead that has to be reseated. On a regular dirt trail, probably not going to do much other than potentially hurt your sidewall belts.
