How much did you have to air down the spare to make it fit? I read what you had to do with the Nitto's same for the cooper or has anyone even mounted one as a spare yet?

I am new to the Landrover world and just purchased my LR3 with the cookie cutter spare.

I just got my 5th rim to correct this and I am heading down this week to get the tires, $132 each here in New Mexico....not bad I must say.

Thanks for anyones feed back.

I don't put my spare under the truck. Let me clarify, I have the space saver spare there permanently, but it's more of rear bumper protector when cruising through rock fields. It possibly will have some use on the pavement should I need it, but in SoCal, AAA is everywhere and there is always Land Rover Assistance.

I carry my full size spare with me only when off roading or extended adventure travels. In those cases, it's either ******* inside the vehicle (typical), or on the roof rack (seldom - kills my gas mileage!). If you need your spare and you are off road, the under vehicle location is quite probably going to be inaccessible.

Can one actually drive the truck with the space saver spare on even for a short distance with the difference in tire size or will that cause damage?

To get my Cooper LTZ spare under the car, I had to let nearly all the air out, enough so that my foot could push the edge of the tire so that it would fit behind the trailer hitch bracket. It sits up pretty well, but it hangs down about 2" below the bumper. Actually helped protect the bumper on one spot.

I keep a compressor under the back seat in case of flat...

Does anybody know if keeping the spare on the roof heightens your chances of tipping
in some situations offroad??

Well, it does heighten it but only minimally of course. I mean, if you were so close to tipping over that a slight push (like 15 lbs of force) on the side of the truck would get it to tip over, then yes, added weight on top could raise the center of gravity enough. But realistically, it is a very small change in the center of gravity.

Thanks for reply roverman, I think I will put it up there next time on the trail.
Having it underneath out there does give me an uneasy feeling.

These tires look fantastic & can not wait to get a pair! has anyone had an opportunity to tow a heavy load behind your lr3 wth them, or researched the towing specs? Most appreciated!
