Look at picture 2 at the bottom................
The Germans started the Chinese Revolution by supplying them with the know how and machinery and that is the key to reliability issues. Since 1999 I've seen it all in the European scopes and guns. The prices went up and the parts went to China for pennies...................... However most mfg's lie and swear its from their country and not China. And you can find good quality in China, better in Taiwan but from what I had seen, they go for the cheapest bid and bad quality. It's all about profits.

It would be a piece of cake for me to make these here in the USA as this is the kind of stuff I do now. Half the price and a real American product. If I get my LR4 I will do it.
The shame of it all!!!!!!!!

It's not China, it is the numb-nuts who make the sourcing decisions, COGs, value engineering, cost cutting measures that happen inside the company itself - it amounts to margins and big bonuses. Apple doesn't have any issue making iPhones and iPads in China, the quality of Apple products is outstanding - all made in China. But you see, they care. Other companies don't care as much, just as long as they increase margins at any costs... because the more money an individual can save the company, the bigger bonus he/she gets at the end of the year. China can make top-notch products (although I personally would rather them come from the EU), but nonetheless, it's a matter of principles... and that happens inside the company making the decisions in the first place.

I'm well aware of that. You get what you pay for. LR could have classed it up some by omitting the "made in China" stamp before it went into production. At least let us think we are getting a real homegrown product especially at that price.
