Oil Light, Lound bang and ticking sound

Hi there,

I was driving my 2004 Disco HSE with 14,000 miles from Seattle to Vancouver and I heard a loud **** anf then the oil light came on, follwed by a ticking sound

Pulled over the oil looked fine. I had checked before our trip. I put another quart in. Sound became less, light was still on

Car was towed to dealer, of course closed unitl Monday.

Any thoughts? Also any idea how roadside will get me home

Hey!

Oil pump? Since the oil level was OK, nothing is leaking. Had it only been that the light came on, it might have been the pressure sensor, but the ticking sound indicates that the pressure is actually lost. Check the pump. Also make sure the filter is OK, change it.
