I own a 2006 LR3 with 62,000 miles that has recurrent sunroof leaks. I am taking it in to the dealer for the 7th time to address the matter tomorrow. I have been told about clogged tubes, cracked tubes, detached tubes in the past. I have had electrical problems due to wires in the floor getting soaked and carpet replaced when it got moldy. What can be done since it seems like they can't fix the problem? Can I trade it for another one that doesn't leak? Or do all LR3 leak? Will the dealer buy it back for retail used car price plus the $3,800 I just paid for an extended warranty? What have folks seen Land Rover do to resolve similar matters.

I had it happen to me once, the week I bought it and took it to a car wash. Have them just snip the end of the downtube off. 7 times to one dealer for the same thing is crazy, I would switch dealers.

How long have you had this lr3 that you're giving up on? Is this the only issue you've had?

I purchased it new and have had other issues here and there but these, except for the fast wearing tires, were resolved under warranty. I purchased an extended warranty expecting to keep the truck for a while but several trips to dealer for flooding in the last 9 months has me concerned that the water damage will result in latent damage to the electrical system down the road. I had the first problem with flooding the first year but it was resolved and now the last year I have been back again again for leaks. Carpet has already been replaced once. I am curious if other folks have been able to strike a deal to get the dealer to take the truck back for reasonable compensation.

Two known water intrusions? That is funny and ....depressing at the same time.I can tell you right know, that I downloaded four full pages of possible water entries to LR3 ,from GTR website and two previously mentioned above are not even included anymore, but there are many other......which proved to be true in my case.
During the last few days of torrential rains in NJ , I discovered two ,new to me(but not to LR),water ingresses through the passenger door, but that did not solved my problems entirely, there is one more to investigate, which i will try to find today...
Days like these, push me to a decision, that i should just drive strait to the stealer , drop my keys off and never look back, you know.,..That is,how tired I am with water leaks,BUT,NO not this car, no.... having said that,I am persistent son of the gun and I will fix it this time, again.
My car was in the dealers for total of three weeks in late fall of '08 and I was under impression that they fixed the problem, their list of remedies is long:
-door seal replacement
-frame seal renew
- windshield cowl warped-replace cowl assy
-plenum, air intake renew
check for water leaks in A,B and C-pillars-renew
A-pillar molding replacement along with new clips.
It was fine til the spring rains. It was then when I discovered , that I have many gallons of accumulated water in front and rear passenger foot wells.I got furious and decided to fox it myself.Striped the car down from all pillar covers along with headliner, just to discover, that drain tubes in A-pillar was cramped and C-pillar pipe was dis attached from plastic connector by the rear wheel arch.Fixed it , dried the car up,had some Vino and guess what ,it was fine ,til now.Another spring rains and i discovered a few new water entries,BUT , like I said ,I am a persistent SOB and I will get to it ,sooner or later,I have few sunny days ,before next wave of rain showers.Just get on it...!!!

Here is my 2cents worth, the only way to locate a water leak is to totally remove the Headliner Board and Water Test for Water Entry Points, if the Headliner Board remains in the vehicle you’re only basing your results on assumptions, not facts. If your unable to see the water coming in your vehicle with your own eyes then the water leak is based on assumptions.

The dealership does not get paid to chase water leaks, so not much time will be spent on your vehicle when they can be turning wrenches making a living.

You will at that point be able to do a process of elimination but not until the Board Has Been removed.

Let me know how I can help in any way. Bill
