red light? bottom center

whats the little red light located at the bottom between the speedo and rpms?
that came on and now to top off all my old problems from last post theres no mechanical movement at all. battery seems fine. i doubt its THAT dead because dash lights arent dim and fluctuating and windows work. my poor rover : ((

That little red light is the security light... if it is on all the time.. you may very well have a battery problem...

But first try locking and unlocking the door manually 4 times to see if this helps.

That is your alarm LED. Activating the alarm shuts off the ignition.

Try turning the alarm off (unlock doors, even if they appear unlocked) and attempt to start again.

I've only had my 96 Discovery for 1 month. Today I found out about the alarm system the hard way. In the parking lot of a busy shopping center I went back to get something from the front seat and without thinking I unlocked the passenger side door. Whew...that thing is loud!! Took me a few tries locking and unlocking the pass door before I finally went around to the drivers door.
