Returning home along the motorway about 70 mph, The engine cut completely
for about 2 seconds, regained power and carried on normally for about 15 miles. It cut again, but this time went to a rough idling speed. Felt like it was only running on 6 or so. Left it for around 15 minutes and started again, still running a little rough, but revved engine and seemed to clear the problem. I managed to get home (80 miles) without further problems. I still think theres a small stuttering when accelerating, but nothing like before. Any help?

how many miles do you have and what year? Could be valves, in which case you could try a fuel injector cleaner or just get them redone for about $3000 (ouch).

Vehicle Speed Sensor. Do a search here for more information -- it's a relatively cheap part and a 10-minute exchange. I'd bet Joey's dinner on it

Thanks Moose.... I had Kimchi Soup.... but your correct, I would say the VSS as well, and would bet my next cup of coffee, and I would really get upset if someone took my coffee.

While I certainly defer to the great rover knowledge of joey and moose, I certainly do hope it wasn't my VSS that was bad, or the dealer made out big time. Regardless I certainly DO hope it is your VSS discov8nut. Now I'm hungry for some reason...

After re-reading your post.... It may be the VSS, but some seafoam wouldn't hurt.

The part that gets me is the running rough at start up... VSS normally doesn't cause this. Also the fastest way to test the VSS is to drop to third gear when issues is occuring, if it goes away, then it is the VSS. If not, it is another issue.
