One followup question?

Does anyone have the 19" Michelins? How do you like them compared to the Goodyears that came with the HSE?

I saw another post about the more meaty tread tires (forget the name) but I don't think they are available yet for the 19 inch wheels. As luck would have it, at less than 25,000 I need a new set of tires due to bad allignment and no tire rotation.

As others have mentioned on this thread, I have had extraordinary tire wear on my LR3 also. I took vehicle in for 22.5K oil change & tire rotation- knowing reported problems on forums like this one, but did not report when dropping car off to see if they would pick up on it. They did report the tire problem to me & offered 1/3 credit towards replacement tires along with free alignment/balance etc. Service manager explained that there was a problem identified with correct alignment adjustments on many of the '05 LR3's. They also performed compressor upgrade & a product enhancement & recall??(B036 enhancement) I am returning to dealership this week to have this work done along with brake job that I knew was coming also...( looks like 25-30k on brakes is going to be about the limit on this tank)

Hello all, I have 40K miles on my 05 LR3 HSE and have been thu 3, yes 3 sets of tires, they have reset the camber, alingment, wheel balancing, every time, even changed out the steering assembly it is back at the dealer because it was about to start blowing some of the 4th set of tires, the dealer has no idea, it sounds like an old ford bronco driving down the road was the coment from my service advisor, I have a 06 LR3 for a loaner and it is a completely different vehicle to drive. So far, I have gotten a credit from land rover for 1 month car payment but now working on just getting out of the damn thing with a larger credit and getting a range rover sport... what a piece of crap the LR3 is......

have the Michelins and they now have 3,000 miles on them. Much better and quieter tire than Wranglers! Expensive, but much better. Ride is quiet on the road, and work great offroad. Not as good as the Nitto's, I am sure, but in the 19's we don't have much choice.

chicago. sorry to hear about your problems. Interesting though that you think you'll get incredibly different results out of a vehicle that is almost identical to the one you hate!

Be afraid be very afraid. My Lr3(Goodyear) tires have worn out at 13000mi. They were rotated at 6000. Dealer says it's not there problem but as a
courtesy (this is my 3rd car with them) they will replace 1 and give an
alignment. After vigorously arguing with Land Rover themselves they have agreed to give 1 more tire plus the alignment because many cars
were sold with rear wheels out. Everyone with this car better start complaining
about the tires now. By the way unless you got the special wheel package
your spare on the Lr3 is a Continental with a different rim so you can't
use this in a rotation pattern. So be prepared to have 3 sets of tires over
a 3 year lease. The dealer sells these Goodyear bombs for $1400 for 4 installed . No other tire readily available fits this car and I've been told by a tire dealer that these tires are back ordered and they don't know
when Goodyear will start production again. Save up Lr3 owners.

I agree that the Goodyears don't last very long. Mine were replaced at 22,500, though I could have got another 5k out of them. I may regret putting the same tires back on . No problem finding the Goodyears in stock at Discount Tire which is where the dealer referred me to. When it's time to replace these ones, I may go with the Michelin Synchrones which I can get at a slight discount through Costco (though I'm not sure how they'll perform in snow- mixed reports) or put the Goodyear MTRs on which should start hitting the shelves in the US (19" version) later this year. One drawback to the MTR's is the increased noise.

I haven't experienced the inside wear that a lot of folks have reported due to the negative camber. My wear is showing up evenly on all four tires but on the outsides. Perhaps due to the bad alignment and my habit of charging into corners!

Michelins are the ONLY way to go if you're not looking for a serious off-road tire. I'm in and out of mud-pits all day for work and my Michelin's have had zero problems. They worked great in the snow this past winter, as well. I ******* so much about the old Goodyears that LR actually replaced mine. They could find a set that didn't have massive amounts of vibration. Crappy tire.

The 19" Michelin is very smooth on-road, and very quiet. It's superior brand, no doubt.

I have about 21.5k miles on my HSE and so far...the tires are wearing just fine (knock on wood). It looks even and to be honest, the tires look as new.

On my previous vehicle, a '97 Montero, I ran Michelins (stock) and replaced with Michelin as well. I only bought ONE set of tires...and I put 208K miles on the vehicle. I don't remember when I changed the originals, but the two sets are averaging 104K each...and counting! I gave the car to my Mom, so I know she's still running the same set; though they're due for replacement.

Michelin is a great brand, that's for sure.
