On June 30 we purchased an 2006 LR3. The deal closed late and we did not get the whole walk through. On the way home, my husband tried to open the sun roof and it wouldn't perform properly. The next day it would not open at all. Sometimes when coming out of a rolling stop there is a hesitation before acceleration would begin. On Saturday, we went back to the dealer to get the sunroof fixed and finish the walk through. The roof ended up being a computer communication problem and was fixed. We were told that the hesitation was a recall item and they would do the fix. Now the hesitation is worse than before. Has anyone else have this problem?

We had test driven 3 different LR3s prior to this purchase and none of them had this hesitation problem. If they did, we would never have purchased an LR3. Previously, we bought a Range Rover in 1987, which had tons of problems and it was replace in 1993 by another Range Rover. The 1993 RR has been relatively problem free for the last 13 years. We are leaving soon for an extensive road trip and are wondering if we should take the 13 year old vehicle instead of a brand new LR3. At least we know it's little quirks.

I just returned from a 3000+ mile trip to the UP and Ontario in mine...of which aprox 1/3 was off-road in sand, ruts, forest, light mud. I had no problems. It did very well. I did carry an extra spare (full-size + spacesaver) and a jump-pack...and I did think hard when prior to leaving my CEL lit up. The CEL turned off the next day. Anyhow, I just thought I would share because I also hesitated and thought of taking my F-150. I was mostly concerned about being too far from a dealer/repair.

The transmission shifting point issue is being adressed by a new software download. I had it done to mine and it made a big improvement over that problem you described. It also keeps the transmission from shifting so much when out on the open road when climbing small grades.

Shifting Update

When was the shifting Update applied? I just bought an LR3 about a month ago - Would it already be done?

You'd think so but that's real world logic you're using... You need to turn on your LR service logic which in this situation tells me that if the thing started up it didn't get looked at.

The TSB for the transmission problem has not been out very long, and I think (not positive) that the policy on that fix is that the owner needs to request it. So take it in, get the software updates and there may be some other fairly important updates with respect to the air suspenion and then you should be good to go (pun intended).
