Turbo failure on relatively new Td5?

Anyone heard of the turbo failing on a Td5 90, just over a year old?

If it is the turbo, what symptoms would I expect to see?

There will be no power or any kind of boost. Basically it will drive like mud!

Slightly off topic, a friend of mine had a Ford Maveric/Nissan Terrano (UK car not sure if the US has them). We had to put up with him moaning about how slow it was. After two years he exchanged it and Ford told him he turbo had siezed!

It will run, and drive but massive loss of power.

if the turbo fails, then epect a tremendous loss of power, and black smoke pouring out of the exhaust. could be an expensive repair if not done straight away as it can block the CAT's which will then need replacing as well!

i had a power loss and thought it was the turbo gone, but turned out to be the sports exhaust system that i had fitted - the baffles had collapsed internally, and had that fixed and a new EGR valve and all is fine now!
