So, have owned our 2010 since 2018. Bought it at 106k km and have put 100k km on it since then. It has never stranded us. Love driving it and the versatility of loading the back up with home reno supplies, dogs etc. Have done the usual repairs as parts wear out. Last couple of years not many repairs needed. Now waiting for something $$$ to fail at which point it becomes a decision of replace vehicle or spend more on it with diminishing returns.

Probably worth around $CAD 10k. An option is sell it and buy a lower mileage 2016 (if I can find one) for $CAD 25k. There is something to be said for better the devil you know i.e. Newer vehicle is an unknown mechanically and I will likely end up doing same repairs I have done on my 2010.

Am wondering about experience here with the later models re. Changes in spec vs. 2010, particularly the supercharged V6. Can't say a supercharger excites me re. Added complexity and repairs.

Thoughts?

I just went through the same mental math with my 250K miles '07 LR3.
The 6 cylinder engines in the later LR4s are not as rugged or reliable as the V8 (10-13).
THe V8s are good for 300K miles.
If you're hell-bent on a later LR4, try and find one that has had the engine repairs (cooling, guides, etc.) and associated parts upgrades.
I found a 140K miles '12 with the V8 for a song, owned by my mechanic, and jumped on it three weeks ago. So far, no regeRts!

If I didn't want the LR4 I'd probably go with a RRS with the SC V8 or the Range Rover SC V8 if I could swing extra wheel base. The Defender 110 SC V8 is out there too, but they are all unibody.

Better the Devil you know.
If it has never failed, there is no particular reason to move on.
I drive all my vehicles until they die in the driveway.
Toward the end of course they are used only as far as I care to walk home.
Every day without a car payment, or a large purchase depleting my account is a plus - particularly right now,

StockOEM front and rear coolant crossover pipes (plastic) should be replaced with metal units.
There were some cam chain tensioner issues IIRC as well.
