...had an odd gremlin pop up a few days ago. For no apparent reason the side mirrors no longer auto-dip when put into reverse. ?

The menu selection still notes this feature. I have the box checked. I did uncheck and recheck it.
There is no laboring sound like the mirrors are trying to do this, but can't... just doesn't work.

Anyone seen this before? I know some people don't like this feature, but I find it useful to see how close I am to curbs and parking lines. You guys who are spoiled with the surround cameras don't have this need. ;)

Maybe the memory module just "forgot" it (this could even be a very early warning that your battery is not doing so well)? Or you accidentally selected a different seat memory button on the door? Try teaching the dipped mirrors position to the memory seats module once again. First, obviously make sure the dipped mirrors feature is enabled in the setup menu - sounds like you've already checked that. Then, with the foot firmly on the brake pedal if your engine is running, engage reverse and use the door switches to adjust the dip angle the way you like it when backing up (personally, I only like the passenger side mirror to dip to show me the curb, not the driver's, but it's a matter of preference.) Switch back to Park, Drive or Neutral and the mirror(s) should swing back to the original position. If you have a favorite memory button programmed on the door, save the settings to that button now. In theory, the car should now remember the new angle the next time you engage reverse.

Thanks, umberbob. I did not know the rear dip position was programmable. I just thought it was an on/off thing. Reading your description, I suspect I pushed another seat memory button at some point. I'll try that... and then hopefully reprogram the dip where I want it!

umberbob was correct! My dip settings were somehow erased and I had to reprogram them. Now it works fine. Odd.

I have received the occasional low battery alarm when I spend a lot of time with the truck open (loading for a trip, lights going on and off). It starts perfectly fine (not labored) and I see no other issues. But...perhaps the battery is long in the tooth.

when it will be opened often, you should engage the "hunting" setting for the interior lights

"hunting" setting?

I know I can hit the center light button to turn them off, but I think that gets cleared once I open another door.

There is mode called lazy entry that disable mirrors dipping.
I didn't know that's what this did. I have a separate check box for mirror dipping. lazy entry I never played with...

Keep pressing the center lights button for about 5 seconds, you will hear a chime and the message "Interior Lights Off" (or something to that effect) will briefly pop up within the instrument cluster. Now the interior lights will not automatically turn on at all when you open any door or the rear gate, until and unless you enable them by repeating this procedure. It's called Hunting Mode because, you know, wildlife hunters early in the morning...

Lazy Entry was a fancy name for the memory seat / mirrors settings, programmable by fob 1 or 2, in the LR3 and first gen. Range Rover Sport. I don't think that term / system is being used in the LR4 anymore, AFAIK you cannot save specific seat settings to an individual fob anymore. Thank goodness, because while that sounded like a good idea for households with more than one driver using the same car, the system was buggy as hell. I had that "feature" on my 2006 Sport and had to disable it for my side mirrors not to start pointing up to the sky every few weeks. :)

on an lr3 hunting mode is controlled the same way but there is no sound, just a simple brief off-on-off flash of the lamp to signify it's been toggled one way or the other.

On my lr3 the outer left and right lamps run off the house battery so that i can use them as desired with no worries of draining the starter battery. This is obviously a more complex solution compared to just having various hanging camp lights which have so much more varieties these days.
