OK, since we are in monkeywrenching mode... I have been using Mobil 1 Extended Performance / High Mileage 5W-30 on my 2013 since about two years ago, on the recommendation of my indy tech. This to minimize a small leak from the rear seal that was causing me to lose about a quart of 5W-20 oil approximately every 3 months (although I put about 7500 / 8000 miles on my car in those 3 months on average) and would be quite expensive to fix. Two years later my engine still drives great, I am now approaching 200K miles and instead of getting worse, the oil leak has nearly stopped. I must still be leaking a tiny bit of oil as the seal still feels oily to the touch, but with my 7500-mile - about 3 months - oil and filter change interval it barely registers (it must be leaking a couple of ounces between intervals, at most.) I don't recommend this of course as I drive in fairly temperate / hot weather here in So. Cal all the time, but I just wanted to let you know the engine probably won't blow up if you stray from the recommended, overpriced Castrol brew and defect to another good quality, full synthetic oil. Mobil 1 can be found almost everywhere for $5/6 per quart in 5-quart bottles.
