My 2011 has backup sensors but no button to turn off. I plan on getting the AB wiring kit sometime this summer and trying out a tester in the plug-in to see if it works. I keep my Bike rack on from April to October so hearing my car scream at me every time I put it in reverse is getting pretty old.

I'd save your money as I have a trailer hooked up and the sensor keeps going off. The car is registering the trailer as the turn signal shows a flashing trailer on the dashboard.

Anyone in CO have a OBDII tool with customer preferences options?

Another thought

Would it work to unplug the sensors from the harness and wire a resistor across the harness to mimic a non-alarming sensor.

Just removed my Atlantic British wiring and installed genuine Land Rover wiring. It made no difference at all. Atlantic British Customer Service claims that LR service department should be able to enable the feature using their software, but i'm not paying for an hour of labor just for that. I'm also not rolling the dice if they can't confirm on the phone that that is what needs to be done. Spoke with three Colorado Land Rover service departments and not one mentioned that they could enable this with their software.

It seems like some 2011 had this included. I'd guess that LR realized they made a mistake not including this after someone with a bike rack complained.

The wiring harness and model year don't have anything to do with it. It probably only has to do if it came from the factory with the harness. You'll get the flashing trailer on the dashboard if it's wired up regardless. My CPO 2012 was this way, but still didn't mute the sound. I suspect the previous owner wired it himself. Complained to the dealer, and they told me it was "supposed to be that way, normal". So I don't think you can even get a dealer to do it, they are clueless. Solution for me was the GAP tool. I had to change two settings for proper trailer operation. As I recall, I think one dealt with the parking sensors, the other had to do with the Trailer Vision Assist, since I have the camera option. Probably only one is relevant for trucks without the cameras. Sorry I don't remember the names of the options with the GAP tool.

I tow and have the Atlantic British harness I also use a hitch mounted bike rack. When I select reverse and the warning tones activate I turn down the volume on the stereo volume control until the tones are barely audible. You have to do this every time you select reverse. No hassle at all.

I have the same issue, it's super annoying. I dont' have a trailer wiring harness installed yet but I was under the impression that if you plugged in a tester like one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Unified-Mari...J1XA2D4VXTP&psc=1&refRID=AA7PMW4HYJ1XA2D4VXTP

It would fool the car into thinking a trailer is plugged in and turn it off which would work when you have a bike rack on.

For $5.94 I will give it a try...although if it does work this will be the reason my wife backs into something. Also wondering if there will be any negative effects of being in trailer mode. Will keep everyone posted.

My guess is the tester plug won’t work. The LEDs don’t draw enough current for the LR to recognize anything is plugged in. The way it detects if a trailer is there is to send small pulses to each of the turn signals and measures the current draw. With LED lights the current draw is to little and all you get is the lights flickering on and off as you drive down the road. There are adapter cables that put a resistor in the turn signal lines that create enough current draw for the LR to recognize a trailer.

Anyone know what I need to do to disable the reverse sensor when trailer is hooked up? Or bike rack for that matter? My dash doesn’t have an off button. I’m using an aftermarket wiring harness from Atlantic British.
Do you know a shop with Autologic Diagnostics? It’s able to edit quite a few systems.

Nope; does not work as hoped...although it works fine as advertised.

Remember this is Land Rover we're talking about - I'll bet they just ran out of buttons because someone forgot to order them, so they installed blanks. Then when they finally remembered and got more buttons that "feature" came back. My 2012 had the button.

Some trailers are wired to ground just to their chassis, so the lights find ground through the ball back to the vehicle's chassis ground. Some are wired to run ground through the wiring harness. I wonder if that has any effect on functionality. My utility trailer (4-pin connector, ground through the ball) would show the flashing trailer when the signal was on, but wouldn't stop the beeps when shifted to reverse. I never thought to try it while the flashers were on to see if that made any difference. My car trailer (7-pin, ground in plug used) would squelch the sensors when I put it in reverse. Both trailers have the same incandescent lights (I replaced all four at the same time.)
