Yeah honestly there should probably be a thread called “From LR to ??” For all you quitters. ;)

Man, I did not mean to shut down the conversation! LOL. Seriously it's been amazing hearing about all the reasons people have to move on from LR4 and what they move to. I'm one of the 2nd/3rd owners coming along just starting their LR4 relationship so it's bittersweet to know that so many have or will soon be moving on.

The issue is that many of us paid $60K up front to buy a new LR4 and now we're spending at least $5K per year on repairs and maintenance. If you picked up a used LR4 for $20K then those additional repair payments don't seem so bad.

Also, I use my LR4 for work and it's fully depreciated. It would make sense for me to get a new vehicle and take advantage of the section 179 tax breaks.

$5k/yr in repairs would have me running from that vehicle for sure. I had a BMW X6 like that, first couple of repairs seemed a better path than a new car but after a few too many it was just a downward spiral.

Or you find yourself like me. At this point I have a triple locked, fully armored SUV rolling on 33.5s with a winch that holds 52 gallons of gas that I can comfortably sleep in.

The cost to get another new vehicle to this point on top of the purchase price makes the cost of repairs to the LR at least a little more palatable.

I don't fault anyone for jumping ship, especially if they are not a wrench turner, but at some point i along the way I just decided I was all in with this one.

And that is the path I am headed right down myself... :) Front and rear bumper will start to add some weight.

I think there's also a divide between new owners and people who've owned it for a while.

I'm on 4+ years with mine. It's fine and I really like it, but year 4 is normally when I start getting the itch to get something new.

8 years and mine has been excellent <now looking for a lot of wood to knock on>.

It seems like the experiences vary wildly which isn’t unusual. Who is going to post on a board like this: either people who really like the vehicle or those who have had a real bad time with theirs.

I’m reminded of the Ducati forums I used to frequent: definitely a ‘I worship this motorcycle and brand’ or ‘I had the worse experience with it and therefore, it is the Devil’ relationship [emoji57]
