Hello.

my 2016 lr4 (silver, black pkg, HD pkg) is about to hit 50K miles on the warranty (has about 2 weeks if you go by the 4 years) - i have an opportunity to get an extended warranty from the local LR dealer (santa monica, CA) with Allegiance Administrators LLC for about $5,000 - wanted to see what you guys thought?

- is the warranty worth it? has anybody ever dealt with Allegiance Administrators LLC?
- what immediate problems can i be looking at after 50K milestone - the previous owner had a good record of maintenance all done by dealer.
- the cost of the warranty is for an extra 4 years and 50K miles - also the ELITE PLUS coverage, says it covers everything except normal wear and tear items (tires, brakes, wipers..)

thanks in advance.

e.

I have no idea what the warranty will cover... but I've had a lot of trouble with Land Rover Santa Monica's service dept. I much, much prefer the independent tech experience.

You can purchase the LR plan from any dealer. I can give you my local guys info if needed.

I have no skin in the game as my LR4 is 7yo and I never got an extended warranty, but I recall from years ago that there was no way to buy the LR extended warranty and that the only way to get the real thing was through CPO. Am I not recalling things correctly or did things change?

i've reached out to a few companies and some don't cover cars in California and a couple didn't cover land rover. the LR dealer does offer third party coverage, so they are available. i am just trying to see if its worth the cost (around 5K). i do plan to keep the vehicle long term and take good care of it with all the scheduled and preventive maintenance.

I bought one for our 2015 at 38k miles and 4 years of age. It is a 4 year 75k plan. Which adds four years and about 37k miles. I paid $3995 for the plan. It covers most everything and has already covered suspension joints to the tune of about $1600 IIRC. We have until May of 2023 and our LR4 has 44k miles on it. So, who knows if it ends up being a good buy.

Of note, they gave us a quote of $4900 and change for the plan. I negotiated it down to $3995. That includes rental/loaner vehicle and $0 deductible if the work is done at my dealership who sold me the plan. The plan is First Automotive. We got a great deal on ours back in 2015 buying it with only 7k miles on it and 6 months old from a wanna be record producer in LA who was quite making it. It hadn't even had its first LOF. So, I didn't feel bad dropping $4k on the extended plan.

My comment was not about dealers offering extended warranties. I’m sure they are happy to sell you 3rd party warranties. My comment was regarding the availability of official, LR factory-backed warranty similar to CPO.
