Machine shop had a great idea of also trying to source these via Ford as these blocks and heads did come out of a Ford factory.

Finally!! We have some forward momentum. Machine shop popped out one of the valve guides and they are nearly identical to some subaru ones with part numbers IVGSU12 (Topline). I've also ordered genuine 3x exhaust valves to replace the bent ones.

Now onto ordering the head gasket kits, does anyone know if EuroSpares HG kit (https://www.partsgeek.com/ss/?i=1&ssq=96000-01345192) uses OEM parts, its about $80 cheaper (after coupons) than the Atlantic British kit which is at $599 + Taxes and SH but seems to be all genuine LR parts

For Genuine LR parts, have you tried buying from LR of Tampa in Florida? They offer free shipping over $99:

I hate PartsGeek, btw, their site is awful. I buy aftermarket from FCP Euro (lifetime warranty on everything they sell), RM European, and occasionally AutohausAZ. Even then, be careful with aftermarket stuff. I think EuroSpares is a reboxer/repackager and may or may not have OEM parts.

For a head gasket job, I'd be really nervous gambling on budget parts, due to the dozens of hours labor needed if you have to re-do the work.

Yeah definitely not trying to get budget parts on the HG parts, was just wondering if the Eurospare kits were all OEM, but really for the $80 difference I'll probably end up getting the Atlantic British kit. My typical go to with FCP Euro but their kit is closer to $700, Ive only had bad experiences with AutohausAZ so I'm staying away from they due to principle. I will also look into Tampa LR as you suggested, my local LR has massive markups so I didnt even consider looking at other LR dealerships.

Don't expect Atlantic British to be selling OE/OEM either. If they don't explicitly state an item is OE or OEM... it isn't.

Great point, I started assembling my own kits between a few suppliers who carry OE/OEM.

I'm back working on the LR4, a few too many projects going on at the same time.

After inspecting the head bolt holes, turns out that a couple of the center ones have shavings in them. The head bolts don't thread in super easy either.

Just ordered a NS300L 11x1.5 kit from Norm for rethreading the head bolt holes - interesting fact, the 11mm head bolts are slightly smaller than 11mm and the 10mm head bolts are also a bit smaller than 10mm.

While I'm waiting on the kit, I'll put the tappets and cams on to check valve clearances as I have a couple of new valves in the mix.

This may be a silly question, but what's the go to maintenance/assembly manual for these LR4's? I've been able to pull everything apparat just fine but will need the manual for things like torque specs and valve clearance specs.

I found Land Rover Merriam in Kansas to be a great source for parts. Their parts team was helpful, easy to reach and I didn't see large markups. I went aftermarket on a few things like belts and hoses, but not on any engine internals, torque to yield bolts or timing components.

With AutohausAZ you have to be careful with any given part as they will list OEM parts on down to rubbish by several different manufactures going down in quality along with lower pricing. Besure to order the brand by manufacture of part you want.

Another thing Autohaus is good at a lot more the past couple years is repackaging lower quality parts into OEM looking boxes for contents.
They used to be good selling OEM parts along with great pricing which is now all gone.

Clutch fan ordered a OEM unit, received a lesser quality brand and returned, later told OEM not available when it was listed they had OEM, "do you want to keep this item?" HELL NO!
Purchased OEM from a different supplier also not from any Land Rover dealership.

I've been told most if not all parts supply companies have been taken over buy one major company that instantly jacked up the prices, reduced the selections available but kept the lower quality listed parts.
This told by a business that has been around for over 45 years restoring and maintaining older classic BMW's......~~=o&o>.......
