I found Land Rover Merriam in Kansas to be a great source for parts. Their parts team was helpful, easy to reach and I didn't see large markups. I went aftermarket on a few things like belts and hoses, but not on any engine internals, torque to yield bolts or timing components.

They are great. Unfortunately for me, they won't sell to me since I live in their area. No idea why. They say it's against the law, but as an attorney I know that's nonsense. If I want to buy from them, I have to go and pay retail from the parts counter and not the good internet pricing.

Anyway, they are one of the (apparently) few Land Rover dealers left who still do the off-road events (at least pre-covid). Their head of service is a good dude. And I remember when I lived 3 hours away in the pre-internet forum days them talking me through hotwiring a switch in my '94 Discovery when the car wouldn't start.

Anyway, atlantic british will price match. Or Land Rover tampa or whatever it is. Still sucks to wait on shipping when Land Rover Merriam is about a 15 minute drive for me.

Land Rover Tampa website died late 2021. I don't know if it moved, or if they are no longer selling online. I haven't called to ask.

This link used to work but now is DOA:

I've been using Merriam or Suburban. Both have offensive shipping costs for small items. $25 to ship a 1-lb box the size of your fist? Ridiculous. I loved Tampa because they had free shipping on orders over $100.

Thats a major bummer and makes no sense that they cant get you that sweet online deal! I reached out to these guys earlier today to see how comparable their part costs are, I made a spreadsheet comparing a couple of part sites vs buying directly from the LR directly for OEM parts. As Beemer mentioned earlier, I have a concern of non-OEM parts being re-packaged or sold as OEM from these third parties. Perhaps boycotting AutoHausAZ isn't a bad thing afterall.

Suburban takes an eternity to ship, in my limited experience. I think what I ordered from them was out of stock, though, and they don't do drop-shipping (but rather have the part shipped to them, then shipped to me).

Slav,

You think like I do! I made a spread sheet comparing Merriam, Virginia Beach LR and Atlantic British for LR branded parts. Ultimately Merriam gave me the best service and the prices overall were close most of the time. I was not disappointed with product quality.

I do the same thing. Don't forget to add shipping costs, which can be a deciding factor.

Be careful with aftermarket vendors like Atlanting British, make sure they are showing a Genuine Land Rover part when comparing prices. If the price seems too good to be true, it always is.

Merriam, Tampa, etc are dealerships and only sell Genuine LR parts.

Thanks a great heads up eye opener. Had to ask, any great priced Indy suppliers of OEM LR parts on the west coast (S.F. Bay Area) vs paying large shipping fees across the country?

If anyone knows parts pricing my son Nick being into 80's era 325is and M5 BMW's racing them.

Nick mentioned ECS the company that bought out almost all the Indy parts suppliers like Pelican parts. "ECS is EVIL" they are called and look them up on Facebook under "why I hate ECS".

A good company called FCP, STP Euro being the best should a part fail like a water pump with 100K miles on it it's still a free replacement exchange along with by PayPal covering boxing and shipping fees I was told, STP being the best

I will find out needing a water pump for the 95 Disco1 which has been warning me when parked 2-3 weeks at a time a couple drops of coolant at most but dry when driving the past 8K miles. Garage toy not a daily driver no worries.

"Evil ECS" now owns Turner Performance with Turner's parts still covered by Turner vs ECS that would tell you to get screwed.

On a shipping rippoff recently purchased a cam chain tensioner spring (cheap insurance vs the big boom), spring the size of a $0.50 piece for a mid 80's era Honda motorcycle.
Most dealerships mentioned NLA along with most Indy parts suppliers.
Located available from a large Indy supplier a $6.93 OEM spring. In shipping enevlope total weight 0.9 oz., got nailed with $10.96 shipping when 1 oz. or less is generally $3.49 shipping. Talking 162 miles away all in Calif. Add insult they taxed the shipping. Their shipping is free on orders over $149 in parts before tax and shipping added.

Another one to watch out for is Ebay listed OEM parts if too good to be true pricing then reading their $50.00 shipping which is was normally around $11.00 by other Ebay sellers.
Look around before hitting that "buy it now" button in a hurry......~~=o&o>.......

Finally got around to checking all of the exhaust valve clearances - set up a comfortable standing height foldable workstation and I ended up kicking over the box of arranged cam follower tappets... FML.

Figured I should probably check all of them anyway in case the tolerances have changed due to wear or work at the machine shop. Looks like I have to replace 10 tappets, a few due to wear and the remaining for just exceeding the tolerances as mentioned in the shop manual (0.25mm +-0.2mm), the majority of which were from the drivers side bank, almost all of those were well over the exceeding tolerance, most in the 0.300mm+ range. At about $10 a pop its not an awful price to pay to be confident that everything is where it should be, I'll be ordering those tonight along with the remaining components needed to put the truck together.

However, my concern is with the intake lifter tappets, I thought they were the same as these are hydraulic but then noticed that the last four digits of the first set of numbers is unique, Does anyone know if there is a certain order for these, Im fairly confident that I have them close to what order they were in before but cant say that with a 100% certainty.

Next thing on the agenda is to re-tap the block headbolt holes with the NS300L kit that I got from Norm - side note on this, I accidentally ordered the larger of the two (M11 headbolts), as my calipers suck and measured incorrectly. However, Norm said the inserts are actually the same outside diameter, some individuals opt for changing their M10 headbolts to M11s for the higher clamping force that those provide, I'm going to do the same as I havent ordered those yet.

For the record, Merriam has in most cases the best prices - a few things we're a couple of dollars more but since I'm only paying for a single shipping fee of $30, it makes sense to order as much as I can from them - they dont do returns and only take online/email orders so you have to be 100% sure you order the right parts. Hopefully nothing is backordered. Just some of the cooling components left to order such as the crossover pipes - I will be re-using the pump was it was newly installed right before the LR4 made its way into my garage.

This may be a silly question, but what's the go to maintenance/assembly manual for these LR4's? I've been able to pull everything apparat just fine but will need the manual for things like torque specs and valve clearance specs.

I have the mechanics manuals for 2009-2012, 2014 and 2016. They are widely available on-line and they are inexpensive.
As I recall I got them from Craigs Manuals, good service and immediate downloads. Inexpensive as well.

I use Palm Beach Rover for my parts. Seldom the least expensive, but relatively inexpensive and usually fast shipping.
And Philip their parts guy is a wizard and has saved me several times - at least for me, great service is always worth a few extra $$.
