Hello,

Recently purchased a Baltic Blue 2012 with 155k miles and a fresh rebuilt engine. Runs nicely, the machine shop has experience with JLR & did a great job.

All coolant lines replaced with new JLR parts

Timing chain guides & tensioners replaced

Ceramic coated

Question: with the mileage, there’s a bit of front end slop. What’s the best resource for complete front end rebuild part?

Check out Merriam LR out of Kansas. I found them to generally have the best prices for OEM parts, online ordering only and it's best to order everything at once to cut down on shipping costs.

You might be tempted to replace the suspension bushings with polyurethane ones that will last much longer. Just know that they do stiffen the suspension and you will get more nvh in the cabin. It's a trade-off between comfort and longevity, and I wish I'd stuck with comfort personally.

They rebuilt the engine and then you replaced the tensioners? Or was this done during the rebuild?

What did they rebuild?

Pulled & completely disassembled, balanced crank, new pistons & rods, machined block & heads. The works.

All new cooling system from radiator to water pump to hoses.

New belts

New injectors

Cleaned all parts that were reused.

Had it overheated? If it hasn't been done already, you'll want to change the transfer case and differential oil (every 75k) and transmission oil (every 50k).

It overheated when the rear crossover failed & it dumped coolant hence the machine work and complete overhaul.

Good call on the fluids. Anyone know where’s the best vendor to purchase from & what fluids are best to run?

The rear differential fluid depends on whether you have the electronically locking vs open diff (hd package I believe). Fluids are a pain IMO, and I've found the independent mechanic's prices worthwhile personally. The tranny fluid requires you to fill with the engine running with the car level, something I couldn't do in my too small garage, so I had it done.
