Air chisel will get the bushings out in 2 minutes. Another 3 to install the new bushings. Just takes the right tools.
Correct you are. Everyone that came before has no idea and likes to do it the long and expensive way. 3 minutes to press a new bushing on vehicle? Please make a video when you you do this. Perhaps we have all been mistaken.

How does the 20 ton press work while the control arm is on the car? Like I said perhaps you found a great new way, this is how we all learn. A video would be great. A Texas car likely has the best chance.

At 160k miles, you'll definitely want to change both bushings and the ball joint. That said, I'd be shocked if that was the original control arm.

Regardless, it would have to be a pretty quick job of pushing out old bushings and putting in new for me to not just have a whole new control arm ready. I'd also want to somehow be sure it was almost certainly going to happen without a hiccup, and things wouldn't go sideways halfway through and leave me with an inoperable vehicle while I wait for a whole control arm to arrive in the mail because I had to saw apart the old one to remove it or get a bushing out. I don't value my free time cheaply.

I use the OEM bushing installation cups with a threaded rod and an air impact. The bushings slide right in. The threaded rod does have to have the "ACME" style threads, for it to work.

This may be a little more practical than my press, do you have a part number for this kit?
