Not always greener. I went with black and continue to be pleased! But I do wonder why there are so few red LRs. Or am I just not seeing them?

My wife wanted a red HSE LUX so we had to order it and wait 3 months for it to arrive. I checked dealer inventory in a 500 mile radius at the time and there were zero red LR4s. My Causeway Gray is just as rare, probably because it was an $1800 color option.

My wife was the opposite. I had looked at my 2012 Santorini, but there was a 2013 Firenze red at a dealership about 2.5 hours away that the dealer pretty much told me he'd come close to price-matching what I was going to pay for my 2012. Both were CPO.

My wife really didn't want a red one, though. Maybe it's because she already has a red car. Had I known what I know now regarding the timing chain tensioners on pre-2013 models, I probably would have put up with some spousal grief and gone with the 2013 red.

When we ordered the red 2013 I had no idea the timing chain tensioners were different. But when I went to buy another new LR4 in 2015 for myself, I knew I didn't like the SCV6, running boards and rotary shift. So I searched for the lowest mileage 2013 I could find and it was 1000 miles away in Chicago with 10K miles on it. So I bought it and had it shipped without ever seeing it in person. Thankfully it turned out fine.

Apologies, dont mean to steal but didnt want to start a new one so thought I asked the question here:

About to pick up these takeoffs as an extra set for my snows, but the pictures show curb rashes and one of them is quite big (runs almost the length of a spoke). Should I be concerned about anything like possible bending caused by the rash or any balancing issues etc? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

His wife wanted black rims so he is gettin rid of these and asking $250 for four, does the price sound fare to you guys given the condition of the set? About couple of hours worth of round trip drive for me.

Also, I know I am gonna have to buy an extra set of TPMS sensors, any ideas how much they cost and what would be a good place to get em? Do they or the truck needs any type of programming procedures and/or do I need to get the sensors installed at the stealership?

Thanks.

What are those wheels from?

The curb rash doesn't look problematic, other than aesthetics. Doesn't look to be much metal missing, if any at all. They can be fixed, but that costs money (unless you DIY) and you'll have to ask yourself it you'd rather wait for a more perfect set if that's what you want.

As far as the TPMS, it does't need to be done at the dealer. Most tire shops carry the sensors, or you can order them online from places like TPMS.com and have your tire dealer install them.

Thanks. They are 19s from a '13 LR4. Mine is '16 with the same design rims. Metal missing aspect, interesting. Ideal world, perfect set would be great but if you guys thought they were a steal at that price I'd pick em up.

Could that curb rash affect or harm the tire in any way in terms of having a sharper edge due to being filed?

I mean, no.. it won't hurt the tire. Not the least of which because, from the pictures, it doesn't look like the tire even touches the wheel where the rash is.

If it bothers you enough and if you are the least bit handy, you can look at videos online of people fixing curb rash. It will probably require the whole wheel to be repainted, though. Again, you can do this yourself if you are handy.
