I'm hoping someone can give me help with my 2000 LR Discorery II. The "check engine light" came on so I took it to my local dealer. Here is the information the dealer gave me. (Ran testbook for Faults. Fault code adaptive fueling on both banks. Checked resestince on all wires. Found 4 of 8 were way out of range. Smoke tested car. There were no leaks present. Car need a new set of spark plug wires).
This car only has 25,000 mile on it. Can the spark plug wires go bad this quickly? Has anyone else ran into this type of problem? I did pull the spark plug wires to see if there might be corroding. None that I could see. They also want to charge me lots of $$$$ for changing the wires. Is this something a weekend mechinic can do? Any tips?

Thank you for any information you can give me,
Gregg

A D2 can be changed by a weekend mechanic with small hands :smile you will understand when you look under the hood at where they plug in.

To answer your question, yes the wires could go bad they are not the best wires... go with magnacore or similar high end wires and they will last a long time. The heat under the hood breaks down the low end stuff real fast.

Joey,

Thank you... do you know a website that may stock high end spark plug wires? Or would it be best just to go to a local auto parts store?
