About to pull the trigger on the Tuffants. What does everyone run, the ET44 or ET27? I’d love to see some pics of the difference!

18" ET44 on Nitto Ridge Grapplers 265/65/18 which have performed beautifully in a lot of different situations and environments. Pictures below.

I have the same tuffants. they are beastly, the reason i bought them was the load rating, steel just have higher load ratings i think those are ~4000lbs around so when your offroading or rock crawling and say the whole cars weight would be on one wheel it would still collapse. However thats an extreme edge case plus the tire would pop most likely way before the rim collapses due to exceeding the pressure load limit 100-120psi or whatever your tire is rated at.

i have only found one steel wheel with higher loa rating than the ET44. but i think it was heavier as well

so glad I searched into this thread. Was almost ready to pull the trigger on compomotives but now after going through this thread, will probably go the steelies way. Looks like most are running the ET44 offset. Looking through Tuffant's website, they mention that the ET27 type should also fit the LR4 without spacers (ours is a US spec 2013 with the 5.0 V8). What's the general consensus on here regarding the ET27 offset - will it fit / not fit?

I also have a request pending with my local LR dealer asking for the specs on the factory 18" steelies for the new defender. A web search shows a bolt pattern of 5X120, 8JX18, ET41.5. If they have them lying around, I might just swing by and put one on to see if it fits. Finally, some steel wheel options for the LR4.

On the Tuffant’s, I once exchanged emails with the company re ET44 and ET27. They said both fit, but if you run a wider tire, you might get more rubbing with the ET27. They said if you stick to 265/60 or in some cases a 265\65 the fitment should be the same with the ET27 and ET44, and the decision is really based on the look you’re going for. They also mentioned a benefit of the ET27 is the use of the TPMS in the valve stem location and the increased space around the caliper on the front hubs. I think with the ET44, you need to strap the tpms to the center of the wheel as it won’t fit on the valve stem.

I ended up with compos as Tuffant was out of stock at the time (and I needed wheels promptly).

Re the defender steelies, there was a picture on this forum somewhere of the wheels mounted on an LR4, so pretty sure they fit.

Take a look at the web site for powerfuluk. They have a video where they fit 18" steel wheels from the new defender onto the Discovery 4 ( LR4).
