Engine/AC fan?

Hi

For a 2000 Discovery II (classic look)
Can anyone tell me if the large fan behind the grill/radiator is responsible for cooling the air condition, engine, or both?

If the fan doesn't spin, before bringing it for repairs, what's the best and worst case scenario?

you have 2 electric fans on the grill side of the radiator they are for A/C. The one attached to the water pump is for cooling the engine. If it doesn't spin, do you mean when the engine is running or when it is off you can't spin it?

If while engine running you have serious issues.

If when the engine is off, then it could be a bad clutch.

It is likely one of the electric AC fan. It is taken out so I don't know if it is broken or the electric system has a short or worse. How difficulty might the repair be assuming the worst cases?

This is a 2000 model in great condition with 105k miles and drives great. AC doesn't work however. If it can be sold in the mid $3k range, might it be a good/bad buy?

Others told me this fan also cools the engine when idle in traffic, so it is probably a must fix eh. How might one tell if the engine has already been overheating?

As far as the fans go, not that big a deal to fix normally or replace if need be... but sadly you can't tell if an engine has overheated.
