fast knocking sound

OK, I do have a loud clunk sound when turning the wheel which most likely is the ball joints....But..... The 99 disco is also making a fast knockin sound when making a u turn or just turning sharp. Could this be the ball joints as well or something else?

That will be the CV joints... I know this, because mine is doing the same thing. It has been doing this for about 8 or 10 thousand miles... until is starts getting real loud it will be okay... normally you can go about 15 - 20k. Since I only put 10 -15k a year on my Rover I figured it can wait.

Not real hard to change, cost around $300 for both front CV's IIRC.

Are they pretty easy to change out? I heard that certain kinds of cv joints
(the ones that screw on) can be hard to change.

Haven't done it yet, but it doesn't look too hard. I will see if I can't find the instructions for this... I will try to post tomorrow.
