Hello first post here I'll try to be quick, I'm having a fuel issue. 2 wks ago I go out and try to start 98 disco (150K, runs like a top, normal quirks like abs light and leaks) it turns but is getting no fuel. Turn to #2 position and check engine light stays on. Filter is good, pulled the line to the filter and was getting no fuel. I replaced fuel pump and it started and ran like new again, for a day and a half when I got the origional symptoms again. This time I pulled the fuse (looked fine), pulled the multi relay clipped to the fuse box (looked fine) then tried to start again and starts like new, until the next morning then the same thing. I replace the multi function relay last night and nothing (turns but sounds like it isn't getting fuel), I check the wires again, look for anything out of the ordinary and try again and it starts like new.

My problem is that I live over an hour from a dealer and do not know how to further define my search for this apparent short. My next step was to look at the pump harness though I do not know where it is exactly under the truck. I heard it was drivers side rear wheel well. The one I see under there looks to go to the fuel tank and to rear lights---is this correct?

Sorry so long, I have a Rave CD but the disco I is a 95 in it. I do not know what the realys are inside the pass side kick pannel, mine looks different than every picture I've seen during my searches.

The Disco is supposed to be our third vehicle but my wife drives it every day now that we have a baby. For some reason I drove it to work today just to push my luck.

Any advice on what to check next? Any direction on where I can find the fuel pump harness connection under the vehicle ? The only other quirk is that I do not have the origional remote door/alarm activator. I only have an origional key and when I use the key to open any locked door other than the drivers door the alarm goes off.

Suggestions welcomed....

Thanks in advance,
Rick

The key issue is going to be normal, unless you buy a remote... if you lock the doors you must unlock the doors from the drivers door.

The fuel pump issue sounds like a bad connections.... or rust in a connector. you have a plug connection on the driver side back wheel well for the fuel pump, also check the connectors at the fuel pump. these are the two high rust areas. But since it works when you play with the connectors I would check them for bad connections.

Could just be a wire worn out and when you move them it works for a couple days or a day of bouncing around.
