Just got back from the Land Rover Merriam Off-Road Event.
If you haven't been to one of these, you have to go. Here's the down and dirty:
1. Hanging out with that many Rover Owners is a lot of fun..
2. That many Rovers in one place is a sight to be seen.
3. Man, I had no idea my LR4 could perform like that.
The briefing: Service Bay of the Dealership:
Catered breakfast, outline of the mission, and T-Shirts/goodie bags for the drivers.. We adjourned, and 10 minutes later a convoy of rovers (over half a mile long) was heading south to the proving grounds..
On Deck at Kansas Rocks:
We split into 3 Groups, got some instruction on how to set up the trucks, and headed out.
(Here's Ryanjl making it happen)
The first thing you realize out there is that pictures -cannot- do this stuff justice. If you take a look at bottom of Ryan's front tire, it is almost as high as the TOP of his rear Tire. Try that at Starbucks..
After the crawling/splashing/climbing, we had a catered lunch and raffle prizes.. We all shared stories of the trail, shook hands, and slowly filed out to go clog all the car wash drains in southern Kansas City..
Price for this solid life experience: Free.
The $%&@! Toyota Dealership charges me for coffee when I take the Prius in.
'nuff said. If you haven't done one of these, you are really missing out on what these trucks are, how fun they can be, and who drives them..
