Hello, this is my first post! I did a few searches and couldn’t find many problems with the LR4 air suspension.

My wife and I just bought a used 2012 HSE Lux and I noticed the past two mornings the front air suspension was a bit lower than the rear and had to adjust itself. I have seen threads on the LR3 and pulling fuses to see if there is a leak. Hope you guys can shed some light. Thank you.

It could also be that the car didn't have a chance to level the night before, as you pulled in the garage and turned off the engine. Tonight, after parking and before shutting off, lower the suspensions to access height and then raise them again to normal height. The EAS compressor will run for a minute or two after that, let it finish running and then turn off the engine. If the car's front end rises again in the morning, you may indeed have a leak.

Ok some new information. My wife told me when she parked she sat in the LR4 for around 10 mins while the car was running and noticed the front end lowered while she was in it.

It seems to not have happened overnight but after she parked. The rear was normal height. Any info would be appreciated.

This behavior is completely normal. The height will adjust sometimes for no reason at all. Ours do it at stoplights, just sitting still, etc.

Ok thanks Paul. I went ahead and made an appointment to have it checked for leaks anyway since we have a 3 month warranty left. I checked this morning and it was lower again in the front after taking umbertobs advice and Lowering to access height and then back to Normal before shutting off the engine. I’ll post back after it gets evaluated.

That's a good call, @anamorphic. Mine will will adjust the suspension, but it is always in an attempt to level the vehicle. If you routinely find it parked with one strut lower than the others, you likely have a leak. You may also hear the compressor running long every time you start up the vehicle to refill the reserve tank.

I forget the cost, but replacing a single air strut (at a non-dealer shop) was cheaper than I figured it would be. I'm not sure if your warranty would cover that or not, let us know.

If not covered under warranty I recommend finding a good independent Rover specialist. It’ll save you.

Hi, thank you for the advice. I found that it is not covered by my warranty, however so found a reputable Indy near by that is going to diagnose and I will take the steps to fix whatever is leaking. I would never go to the dealership for this unless it was covered by warranty. If anyone here lives in Southern Ca, I am going to Rover Doctor. They have been straight with me even before I owned a Land Rover. I called to inquire about maintenance costs and such and they spent a lot of time informing me on LR.

I will update on what happens next.

If you have a air suspension leak, it would trigger a fault on your dash. Had this issue before but symptoms is that it takes a while for the front end to lift after I start the engine. Brought it to dealer and it was one of the solenoid that caused the leak and was changed under CPO warranty. This was for a 2010 LR4 with about 58k miles. That’s was about 3 years ago.
