I have a 2000 D2 and the BCU went bad. Now I can't clear the Check Engine light and am getting an SRS and transmission fault. Took it to LR dealer and they can't figure it out. Anyone else run into this?

Sorry, it has 90000 miles on it. It sat for a week and suddenly wouldn't start. battery was good but nothing worked. I had a D on the dash with a line through it and the red light on the dash from the security system was on. was diagnosed as a bad Body Control unit. Now the fault codes cant be cleared and is showing the SRS and Transmission codes.

After further review, it appears my D2 was struck by lightning while we were on vacation. The car had a bad BCU ( which was replaced) and the codes that wouldn't clear were real codes. They had a "loaner" vehicle that they tested parts with and it appears that it has a bad SRS, ABS and transmission ECU. the Mechanic asked if there was any chance that the car was jumped with reversed polarity. The car wouldn't start when we got home and I am 100% sure I didn't cross wires. We also lost a TV in the house while we were gone from the electrical storm we had.

With a lightning strike, what else should I be on the lookout for?

Sadly everything electrical can have issues with an electrical strike... the + is it may all be covered under your comprehensive insurance if you carry it.

When replacing the BCU, you must have a dealer use a test book and reprogram the BCU and main ECU so they communicate, other wise you will have problems.
