I had that since I bought the truck, but that got fixed when the recall was done. The purge valve can definitely affect that, since the EVAP system will push fumes out of the fuel filler if it’s not working correctly and shut the fuel pump off early.
I'm having an early fuel pump shutoff problem and I'm wondering if you are referring to the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve that is mounted on the valve cover of the V8 engine on the drivers side?

When filling, I can hear the fuel start to bubble up the fuel fill tube and then the pump shuts off. But if I try fueling again then it will pump more gallons. It seems to happen in Arizona, but on the flip-side $3.75 for premium.

Yup. Fixed after the updated part was installed, hasn’t happened since. Mine would just push fuel out the filler onto the ground.

I just paid $4.25 the other day.

I'm going to try replacing mine then. Just filled up, drive and park then hear a gurgling noise coming from the fuel tank area beneath the rig and almost motor like sound that is air escaping through fluid or something, the battery was disconnected so it wasn't a motor. Pop the gas cap off and the noise can be heard from inside the fill tube so there is something abnormal going on with it. I also smelled fuel out both fenders but that I think is coming from the air intakes, no big deal.

Off-roading the other day the fuel door opened. Not sure if its the latch mechanism or how that even happened lol.

For the Purge Control Valve replacement, there are a lot of options on the internet. How much do I want to pay is what it looks like but I want to buy good enough for 100k mi.. There are replacements on Ebay for $50, one of which had a Bosch branding which is what I have, but its unknown miles. Then the dealer wants $400 + $50 in gas to get there for new lagit Land Rover part and Amazon has it for $300. Trying to decide where to buy it. Where did you get your Purge Control Valve from, does it seem like a quality part?

I'm finding a lot of different, conflicting part numbers for "Purge Control Valve" on the LR4.

LR010806 / LR172646 ($238 dealer list)
LR172648 ($238 dealer list)
LR174757 ($258 dealer list)

All of these are for the LR4 V8. What specific part number is everyone referring to?

I've been looking at PN LR010806 I found that number on the internet, not from the dealer. It could be superceeded, I'd like to pull the part off and inspect it but don't want to risk breaking anything further. It probably doesn't have a Land Rover PN on it anyway. My VIN is SALAK2D46CA619006.

LR010806 was an older part number, superceded to LR172646. $200 from this JLR dealership.

However, the other 2 part numbers above are also "Purge Control Valves" and I don't know which one people are replacing to fix the fuel-filling issue.

That is a great deal, thank you. I did notice there are quite a few PN's but the way I'm looking at it is hopefully there is only one Purge Control Valve per vehicle mounted near the engine valve cover and the wizard on that site verified it fits my year/model. I did a visual part and picture match for LR010806 so as long as the website I was looking at had correct information then then LR172646 is the latest revision. That is something I didn't think about with the Ebay option. That used part while functional and inexpensive could be outdated where new fixes are built in later part revisions making it stronger. At least that is what I'd like to think, they could potentially do that if they wanted to lol.

LR172646

$112 from checkered flag Land Rover 1/2023, but that was the price for the old part. I ordered during the update and they honored the old price.

10806 is an outdated part, not just an old number.

I installed the new Purge Control Valve last week, $230 or so with shipping. Then I started filling up the tank in Arizona to try to replicate some of the problems. The thing is the weather has cooled off, it was only about 90-100F but at a 1/4 tank remaining it took 12.2 gallons. Seemed kinda low but maybe not. Tried other fill ups and I think at the 1/4 remaining point there is more than 5.5 gallons and its hard to read that gauge sometimes. I've noticed after getting stuck on a hill, for about 5-10 minutes the gas gauge read 1/4 tank and I knew I had more than a 1/2 tank. It was missing for miles and then it started to show up a little at a time. The timing is interesting because that means the gas gauge in the dash is not an instant reading.

Took it offroading after fillups too. Didn't smell anymore gas out the intake channels when parked. Haven't heard a weird air-through-fluid sound right by the tank with the engine off. I haven't smelled gas in back of the truck either, but I think I might have smelled it while driving so I rolled up the windows and didn't smell anything so I'm pretty sure the valve R&R was the proper fix and a great price. Thanks everyone!
