Hey David,
I deal with patients everyday and i can tell you, trust me you are not missing much!!! I see PIA pts all day. That said, I am not complaining, however if I can make the same living doing something other than dealing with pts and insurance and practicing defensively in order to protect yourself from lawsuits, i'll be there in a heart beat. Its not fun anymore. You gotta treat every patient as potential law suit. Not fun!!! Sorry for the off topic rant!!!
Hello baobay,

I understand completely. Many of my medical school classmates complain to me all the time about the issues they face: the need to practice defensively, being afraid of law suits, and the need to deal with the complexity of insurance almost on a constant basis. I decided early on to go into industry and I am not regretting it. While the pay may not be as amazing as some sub-specialties, it's much better than a GP, Internist, or Pediatrician and you do not need to deal with the stresses of primary care.

I got an MPH and DrPH degree in addition to the MD, so I always knew I wanted to go more into Epidemiology and Health Outcomes. Right now I work on ***/Infectious Disease clinical trials within a Global Regulatory / Health Outcomes division. It's stressful, but I am fine with my patient contact being extremely minimal - especially in this age of healthcare! ;-) Eventually I want to go into academia full time and be a professor at a school of public health in Boston (I am only 35 right now - hehe).

There are lots of pharma/biotech in Boston - you could totally move into a Medical Director realm or the like. I have contacts, let me know!

Sorry for the off-topic rant..... I'll get back to the LR4 now......

I am still debating on if I should have it detailed, as I don't want a butcher job on the truck.

completely agree with you. Even though I am not a doc myself, my wife is and I see it first hand how hard it can be. It is bad economy and people are hungry and in our litigious culture, it seems easy money to some.

I think you should. details are expensive and if you have had the truck for over 6 months, you'd be amazed to see all the crap from dust, food to skin particles inside your truck.
