OK, decided on a winter solution.

So I have been thinking about two options for winter...

1. Put Good Year Winter Tires on the OEM 19's and sell the all season tires - net cost ~$1,200. And then get a set of 20" rims with 275/45/20 tires for another $1,800. Total - $3,000
2. Keep OEM 19's and get a set of 18" rims with 235-65-18 winter tires. Total cost $1,800.

I decided for the simpler option #2. OEM 19s are plenty good for the type of driving my wife will be doing, and I can invest the $1,200 difference in some bling for my Audi or just keep it in savings for the M5.

Only problem, 18" rims are hard to find for the LR3. Will be talking to TireRack on Tuesday again. Also trolling eBay for OEM 18's.
